UK Pachygyria Research / MRI Reviews & Diagnostic Support

UK Cortical Malformation Research

A research group at the MRC Centre for Neuropsychiatric Genetics and Genomics in Cardiff, UK, have a project looking into the genetic causes of cortical malformations (including pachygyria, but also lissencephaly, polymicrogyria and grey matter heterotopias):

Transition Guide for Special Needs

The Autism Speaks Transition Tool Kit was created to serve as a guide to assist families on the journey from adolescence to adulthood.

It can be used by anyone with special needs of any type to take the journey and not forget any steps along the way.

It is a long 100 plus page guide but save it as a PDF on your computer to access the parts you need when you need it.

At this site you can also request a hard copy if your child is age 14 -22.

States have different timelines and there is another resource guide on the same page for each state along with an online appendix.

Special Needs Camps and Respite Programs

Parent-Recommended Respite & Camps


AGAPE:
AGAPE is an outreach program of the special needs ministry at North Metro Baptist Church and meets once a month for two hours in the evening. The church is located in Lawrenceville, GA and serves individuals with high functioning intellectual/physical disabilities (ages 5 to adult). Contact 770-995-9055 for more info.

Camp Big Heart:
Located in Winder, GA, this camp offers recreational activities designed specifically for children and adults who are mildly to moderately mentally challenged (who may also have physical challenges) and who are ambulatory. 678-294-1916
