Parent to Parent of Georgia's Employment Opportunity

Are you a parent or family member of a child with a disability or a professional interested in working with families? Are you looking for part-time work, a casual working environment, where you can help families access support and resources while expanding your own knowledge? If so, Parent to Parent needs you as a Coordinator in our Atlanta area office (Chamblee).

The primary responsibilities of Coordinators include matching parents for one-on-one emotional support, handling information requests from families and professionals, and representing Parent to Parent at meetings and conferences.

Requirements:

· Experience with disabilities or health care needs
· College degree
· Good written and oral communication skills (preference given to candidates fluent in Spanish)
· Basic computer skills

Part-time position available, 20 hours a week. Coordinators work 4 days a week, but must be able to attend occasional evening and weekend support groups or workshops (on average, 1 or 2 times per month).

Announcing the new 2007 Employment Workshop Series

Effective Tools, Collaboration, and Outcomes for People with Disabilities

Sponsored by Employment First Georgia (EFG)

Employment First Georgia is a newly established, statewide technical assistance, training, and consulting center, promoting innovative customized employment practice. EFG is supported by a collaborative of state and federal agencies, including start-up funds from the U.S. Department of Labor, Office of Disability Employment Policy.


Attend all four workshops in the series, and receive technical assistance and consultation as an extra bonus ! (please register early as there is limited availability.)

Adult Employment with Special Needs

Jennifer Briggs is President and founder of Briggs & Associates. After receiving her degree in special education from Xavier University, she spent some ten years working in various special education positions in Ohio and Georgia, specializing in vocational training and career development for adults with disabilities.

She founded Briggs & Associates in 1989 based on the philosophy that anyone who has the desire has the ability to be successful in the workplace. The company has grown to over 50 employees solely dedicated community-based supported employment, now serving over 475 people across Georgia.
