Autism Speaks Receives $0.49 Each Viewing of Video

The band (Five For Fighting) is generously donating $0.49 to Autism Speaks for *each time* the video is viewed. The funding goes toward research studies to help find a cure.

Please visit the link below to watch the video and pass it along to your friends and family. They are aiming for 10,000 hits, but hopefully we can help them to surpass this goal.

Fundraising Tips and Sources

Are you looking for more ideas on fundraising?

Here is a list of ideas used in the past by myself or other readers.

We have gotten funding before through our local electric/gas company through a round up program (Snapping Shoals). I have done a candle fundraiser which turned out fantastic through my son's school, door to door and through my church. I have several other ideas if you want to call me at any of the numbers below.

Lover of Christ, Wife of Tyson, Mother of Mitchell,
Parent Leader for FOCUS, Support Parent for Parent to Parent, Co-Chair of Newton/Rockdale Interagency Coordinating Council and Proud Owner of

Gift Wrapping Fundraiser

In 2004, I ran a holiday gift wrap fundraiser at Borders at Mall of Georgia. For the best location and times, contact several months to six months in advance for November and December Scheduling. I scheduled it late in the season and received 5 quiet days but still made $500+ for the GECIC scholarships. Barnes & Noble also provides this service. All supplies are provided for free. It is important to have a group of people who you can count on to fill all the time slots given in order to keep the opportunity. This was also a great way to meet the public and share information about GECIC and special needs in the community.

GoodSearch.com Fundraising

GoodSearch.com is a search engine that donates half its revenue, about a penny per search, to the charities its users designate. You use it just as you would any search engine, and it's powered by Yahoo!, so you get great search results.

Just go to www.goodsearch.com and set up your own charity.

Only 500 people searching four times a day will raise about $7300 in a year with no cost to them just great searches.

Personal Fundraising Experience and Sources

We ran into alot of dead ends, like Foundation for Medically Fragile Children (now Fragile Kids) (lengthy application and was turned down), FODAC (no funding), Georgia Brain and Spinal Cord Injury (not an automobile accident), and the Shriners (did not meet their qualifications for assistance due to his disability?). It was very frustrating since we had already received a letter from Snapping Shoals, EMC, Operation Round-up, for $2000.00 to help with the cost.

So we did a candle fundraiser, just with our son's school at the time, and raised 1,200.00.

Someone on our behalf, at church, asked for a love offering while we were not there, and raised $500.00.

An anonymous donor of another $500.00 in the mail (planting a seed for their own need of a new van) and then my mother n love (haha) and many family members, sent out emails, emails, emails, asking for donations, that were tax deductible through a church ministry, and that ministry paid the balance! Praise God! We were able to get the lift and get the roof raised for future growth. Total cost, including van rental, close to $10,000.

Feeling of overwhelming joy from strangers and loved ones alike~~~~PRICELESS!!

Juanita Rowe, Lover of Christ, Wife of Tyson, Mother of Mitchell,
Parent Coord. for FOCUS, Support Parent for Parent to Parent, & Co-Chair of Newton/Rockdale ICC

Thank you for sharing your experience and sources, Juanita!
