Why these topics?
Some of you are wondering why I chose these topics for the website.
Years ago I read "And Then I Had Kids, Encouragement for Mother's of Young Children" by Susan Alexander Yates. In the book she mentions having five folders in your life that you are interested in and can talk about when called upon.
The special needs topic became a priority when my son, Corey, was 2 years old and diagnosed with cerebral palsy. I have volumes of information at my desk and in my computer that I will pull from to share with you. It has become a wonderful way to revisit the information and to put it in a format that can be easily accessed for many to use. As I continue this journey with Corey and connecting with other families and organizations I will share the new information found.
Special needs section also is the main connection during the month for the FOCUS Mall of Georgia Special Needs Support and Share Group that meets the last Thursday of each month. Come join us if you are in the area. The calendar of events section and the Support and Share Group-FOCUS section contain the meeting information.
Organization and Home Management is my next folder of interest. I grew up in a well run home and my mind needs visual organization and cleanliness to be relaxed. My grandma always told me that when you have a problem clean and the troubles would be lessened. Well I had a pretty clean home until I started writing on this website for hours a day. It really did make a difference on how I processed my emotions. The many resources I have gathered and valuable solutions I have learned will be available for you to use in your own home.
The travel section came out of a need for me to find a solution to my travel sickness as I love to travel and friends suggested finding information on special needs friendly activities and locations for their families.
Corey and Ashley are my reason for the toys section. As I started building this site Corey's birthday was a month away and we were wondering what to get him that would be useful for a long time or something that he would really love. I don't get to go out shopping much in the stores so this was fun searching the web. Plus, you are a great resource for me when you share the items that your children love. Thank you.
I am open to suggestions and comments on how to improve the site and what you found most useful.
My hope is for you to find solutions and make connections during your visit and want to come back for more.
Thank you for coming to my website.
